April: The Month My Original Vision Slowly Took Shape
● Out of Anxiety, a Game Was Born
After the chaotic race of March, I managed to lock down the overall layout of the website and establish my core direction—transforming the platform into a digital "amusement park." Although the 3D theme park was now functional, my mind was already racing to build another flagship feature. To be completely honest, I was fueled by anxiety. I kept feeling that what I had wasn't enough, and that I desperately needed the "next big thing."
For a long time, I had wanted to create mechanisms that would encourage visitors to hang around and enjoy the site rather than just reading the manga and leaving. One major idea I had was game development. Just like building the 3D theme park, diving into game creation meant starting completely from scratch with absolutely zero coding knowledge (haha).
● There Were Other Game Concepts Before "Fuka-Bowling"
I had multiple game ideas lined up at the start. To avoid spoiling future surprises, I'll keep the exact details under wraps for now, but "Fuka-Bowling" wasn't actually my very first concept. I had Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C, and honestly wanted to build them all. Yet, I harbored deep doubts about whether I could actually pull them off and create something that functioned properly.
Since creating the 3D theme park had already been a massive struggle, I was incredibly anxious about whether I could handle a far more complex game development cycle. Right around that time, a "super coder" stepped into the picture: Claude, the AI that had been taking the tech world by storm. YouTube was packed with videos praising its remarkable coding abilities, so I decided to give the free version of Claude a try.
● Experiencing the Thrill of Seeing My Own Ideas Move
While there were other game concepts on the table, I ultimately decided to center my project on bowling—a globally beloved, high-profile sport that almost everyone has experienced at least once. I typed out a prompt describing the kind of game I wanted to build, and I was absolutely blown away by how Claude instantly generated a playable game right before my eyes.
And just like that, my very first prototype was born! From that point forward, I entered an intense cycle of testing and debugging alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, churning out multiple prototype versions. There were so many factors to map out: adjusting the UI and visuals, refining the core gameplay systems, identifying my unique selling points, establishing the game's overall world, and balancing the difficulty levels. I crafted the game by making countless micro-adjustments along the way. Game development, it turns out, is the ultimate process of trial and error.
● A Universe Expanding Beyond Fuka-Bowling
Although my primary work is drawing manga, I deeply believe in sharing my universe through various forms of media so people can discover my creations from different angles. "Fuka-Bowling" is still a small indie project, but it holds the potential to introduce players to the wider world of the "Fukabories" and "FUKABORI COLORS." Moving forward, I am fully committed to launching diverse interactive features alongside my regular manga updates. This isn't just about finishing a single game; it's about building an ever-expanding creative universe from that very foundation.
